Decoding Nostradamus’ Third Antichrist, Mabus
Who is Mabus, the Third and Final Antichrist for seen by Nostradamus?

Discovery premiered their Nostradamus Decoded tonight. Fabulous production quality and for the first hour they tried their best to be fair and balanced between skeptical and sympathetic views of Nostradamus until the temptation was too great. They dug up a fellow who was an expert on 16th-century French but had no knowledge whatsoever of mystical or occult knowledge from the same century. They also dug up James Randi to rant his usually unchallenged lapses of research. I tried four times in the last 20 years to corner him in a foursquare debate on television; wherein every statement he made could be challenged. He always escaped.
Don’t get me wrong, I generally liked the show and it was rich in good material from both sides. Bravo Discovery Channel for coming a long way forward from that disaster of a documentary called Nostradamus: A Skeptical Inquiry. Its more deserving descendant, Nostradamus Decoded, went a lot farther to allow skeptics to be challenged. I am grateful for that. However, Discovery Channel still seems to have a front office policy of being pre-wired biased in favor of any skeptical view, and still lets a lot of these lazy and undisciplined skeptics, like Randi, go unchallenged.
Hope in me springs eternal that Discovery will advance the path of science (which means to know) by allowing me in future documentaries they may plan on prophecy to answer every challenge, so that you, the television viewer, can be served best to decide for yourself whether the Randis or the Hogues in this Nostradamus debate have best presented their arguments.
I will give you, my readers, the responses to challenges made on this show as soon as I can in a few weeks. I would like to do it now, however I am very busy in the next few weeks finishing the final edit of Predictions for 2010. Today the rough draft was finished, appropriately on All Soul’s Day because the future of 2010 will shake souls — not only shake them for worse.
What I can present for you tonight is a blog article composed in March that covers my take on one of the main themes of Nostradamus Decoded:

I have been on the trail of decoding Nostradamus anagram for his Third and Final Antichrist perhaps longer than most Nostradamian scholars. I began in 1982, over a quarter-century ago. I waited this long before releasing my findings about MABUS the Antichrist because I felt the times for the actual emergence of the one Nostradamus calls his last Antichrist where not nigh unto now
The book covers just about every possible angle I have discovered on my own or collected from fellow divination detectives on the case. There are few stones left unturned, yet on rare occasions someone comes up with something interesting like the reader named “Sultan” did the other day. Another reader we’ll cal “J” presents a view often entertained by readers that Mabus isn’t a name, it’s an acronym.

I wanted to comment on your opinion on Mabus. I agree and expanding on your theory. [Try this interpretation:] Mabus May Be Us (or) May Be U.S. – both of which would apply.

The only problem with that theory is that it assumes Nostradamus hid English phrases in his prophecies. After over 30 years study of his unique mangling of the French language, I have not seen anything convincing enough to conclude that Nostradamus used codes for English acronyms. Still, enough readers over the years come to me with these creative attempts which makes me think it is time to write a blog article about my views on the matter, so thanks for your inspiration, J.

Seeing as how Mabus applies to so many world leaders and figures couldn’t it also say we are in the time of Mabus?

I think Nostradamus is saying that indirectly with his many hints about the time, astrology, common names fitting Mabus. I don’t think he said this directly in a nudge of an English phrase in code, though.

In a way, my ending to the book tried to answer in the affirmative that question, and offer the readers a fresh look at just what the Antichrist might be, beyond personifications.
But back to your acronym theory. Hundreds of readers have supplied me with plays on MABUS meaning Ma Bush, for the former president’s mother, or adding the missing y say it is an acronym for May B us. Alternatively, May B U-nited S-tates. There are those of you who think it stands for a blending of G.W. Bush and Obama. It is true that a more traditional use of anagram rules from the 16th century will get you Mabus out of G.W. Bush. Just turn the G.W. to lower case g.w. Switch them around: w.g. Turn them upside down to get m.a. Bush, then drop the redundant h, and voilà! Mabus.
You can also get Obama from Mabus. The correct phonetics is oobama or ubama. You mix it to spell Maabu, cut the redundant a with an s replacement — et voilà, nous retroverons Mabus!
Now then, pardon my French, folks, but in no way have I found any acronyms for English phrases in Nostradamus. You have to look for French possibilities, and to a lesser extent phrases or names hidden in ancient French-related languages of Ossitan, Gallot, Provençal, or find an acronym you can hide phonetically in Roman letters for Greek, Hebrew, Arabic or print outright in Latin. Nostradamus blended these languages into his prophecies in Old French.

what about the last anti-christ being the last pope? there is only one left according to what i have learned.the pope is well known in his vatican & has a huge following.
Mabus the final AC what a laugh the AC of this time is here already and he is not named Mabus just for the record a few more AC’s to go

John, thank you for you book “the War with Iran” which I have recently purchased and am reading.
The Bible talks about this final antichrist making an agreement with Israel and then breaking it and as often happens his true identity will be revealed right at the end when we realise what has happened.
If we knew his true identity we could change the predicted future ?
Nostradamus also predicts that the 3rd World War begins when there is a massive explosion(possibly nuclear) at a World Leader meeting in Geneva- its interesting that they arrested a someone near the Hallidron Collider near Geneva- perhaps they were plotting something ?

I think the focus should be on ‘Mabus dies soon’ that is soon after he has achieved something big,i don’t think Mabus is the third Antichrist,and Mabus has to be an American who else can unleash such destruction if it happens in the near future.

I do agree with the idea that Mabus is the Third Antichrist, to use this scheme, and that in the Middle East there will spark the lightining… I do not agree on Obama and neither on Bush, even if Obama can be a delution for some or many on the other side we cannot give to an individual such an importance. What I do think is that both, Bush and Obama, are expression of the Patritiate which governs America and by America the whole world… Bush belongs to the part which says: We can do all alone, Obama belongs to the part, actually winning, which says: We must maintain consensus… Therefore they are **part** of a collective Antichrist-being but they are **not** the Biblical Antichrist, who may come from Middle East only, in my views and after having read many souces…
Just think about it Obama is rallying all the troops for world peace, But one of the quatrains says that the Third Antichrist will bring world peace. And isn’t that what Obama is doing.
I wanted everyone on Earth to know that trying to change the letters of Mabus around is a terrible mistake. There are only 26 letters in the alphabet. Those 26 letters make many words. Changing Mabus around like that is wrong. Nostradamus meant what he put in writing. He also meant what he said when he said, ” Men with letters of honors (like John Hogue)will often make boastful claims” on his work. And they would be wrong. You will know Mabus when the time comes and a dead man/woman can’t command an ongoing war. Mabus is a martyr.

I mostly get a lot of great letters. Even the mean ones can be real interesting. I allowed this letter through just to give an example of the other kind of letters that are neither nice or mean but simply meanly mediocre. Arrogance and ignorance are a perfect marriage made in Hell. One way to know that mediocrity is master in your life is to pass judgment on someone’s work on the lightest of browsing through perhaps one blog out of a thousand and not a single book out of 16 available — one being the following (see Nostradamus Antichrist). I wrote about the “Mabus as Martyr” theory in it.
Mr. Hogue, it is to your conscience that I write this even if it does come across harsh. Passing judgement on someone elses work like you do Nostradamus’ should be considered a big deal. Even though you wrote somewhere in your books that Mabus could be a martyr, it is quite evident that you have largely harbored Mabus as a serious threat.

Again, this is an assumption made in ignorance of what I wrote about Mabus in Nostradamus and the Antichrist. You are assuming without reading. This is the meanness of mediocrity. It assumes and arrogantly advances forward an idea or argument unsubstantiated. Mediocrity is also lazy. So here’s the situation. Stop being lazy. Unless you read that book and actually KNOW what I said about Mabus, I will not subject my readers to any further accusations waiting in this letter or further letters rendered from a foundation of ignorance. I am sorry, but there it is. If you are going to be critical, at least know something about what you are attacking. When you do, I’ll be happy to post your comments again.

he is not actually evil, he is the one who claims to be the god father, the christ or the god head, so he must have some powers with him, mystic 8 types of alpha powers !, he has got mind travel techniques,split personality,deepest occult knowledge, is black in colour.
Ray Mabus running for President? Oh crap

This rumor, like so many others recently being thrown around about Congressman Sestak being given Secretary of the Navy Ray Mabus’ job as a reward for not running against and defeating Arlen Spector in the primaries, is the chum that Internet sharks down for entertainment. Yummy data that devoid of the nutrient of fact. I’ve been watching the progress of Ray Mabus, former Governor of Mississippi and US ambassador to Saudi Arabia under President Clinton since he went to the Middle East in the mid-nineties to perform the latter job. I had so many letters and Mabus watchers corresponding to me at that time. I said he was not Mabus as in “Mabus” the Third Antichrist and though his name perfectly matches the code for the Antichrist, as per Nostradamus’ forecast, I said back then that nothing would come from his posting in “Armageddon-land” Middle East. He resurfaced again in 2008 as a coordinator of the Obama campaign in Mississippi. In that late spring of 2008, I predicted Ray Mabus would earn a cabinet post for his efforts once again stimulating all the Mabus hubah bubus again.
